How do you split a bill with tip?

Add the tip to the bill first, then divide the total by the number of people. For an $86 bill with a 20% tip: $86 + $17.20 = $103.20, divided by 4 is $25.80 each.

What if people ordered different amounts?

Have each person tip on their own share: multiply what they ordered by the tip percent and add it.
