Vesta.lit Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 22, 2026 · Updated: October 29, 2026 (anonymous usage statistics)
Vesta.lit ("we", "us") is a personal finance app that helps you notice your everyday wants, learn about money and put a little away for the future. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it.
The short version
- Your money data stays on your phone. Your expenses, budget, Vault items, lessons and progress are stored only on your device. We don't have servers that receive them, and we can't see them.
- No account, no login. You never give us your name, email or bank details.
- No ads, no tracking. We don't sell data, share it with advertisers or track you across apps. We count anonymous app usage (like "a purchase was logged" or "a lesson was finished") to improve Vesta.lit, never your amounts, notes, names or places.
- Subscriptions are handled by Apple and our subscription provider, RevenueCat (details below).
Information stored on your device
When you use Vesta.lit, the information you enter is saved in the app's private storage on your device:
- Your monthly take-home pay and fixed expenses, if you enter them
- The wants you log (amount, category, date and any note), and the place you bought it if you add one (My Spots)
- Items and amounts in the Vault, budget goals and net worth entries
- Your lessons completed, streaks, XP and settings (such as haptics), and an optional first name
This information never leaves your device unless you choose to export it. Like other app data, it may be included in your device's iCloud or computer backups, depending on your iOS settings.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect or have access to: your name or contact details, your bank or card accounts, the amounts, notes or places you log, your location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers. Vesta.lit does not connect to your bank.
Anonymous usage statistics
To learn which features help people, Vesta.lit sends anonymous usage events to PostHog, Inc., our analytics provider. An event says that something happened: for example, the app was opened, a purchase was logged in a category such as "coffee", a lesson or calculator was used, the Vesta Pro screen was shown, or a subscription started. Each event can include:
- the event name and time, plus simple details such as a spending category, a lesson or calculator name, a count (like "5th purchase logged") or a subscription plan
- a random ID created by the app on your phone, so events from the same install can be counted together. It isn't your Apple ID, your advertising identifier or a device identifier, and it isn't linked to your name
- basic technical information: app version, iPhone model and iOS version
Events never include the amounts you enter, notes, Vault or place names, your name or your location. We don't create user profiles and we've turned off location lookup from IP addresses. We don't combine this data with data from other companies, and it isn't used for advertising. Usage events are kept for up to 1 year. PostHog's privacy policy: https://posthog.com/privacy
Apple Ads. If you installed Vesta.lit from an Apple Ads ad, Apple tells RevenueCat which campaign it came from, without identifying you. No advertising identifier is used, and this isn't tracking.
Places and location (My Spots)
Adding places is optional and free; viewing them in My Spots is part of Vesta Pro.
- Your current location is used only when you tap "📍 Add place" while logging a purchase, to suggest places near you. Vesta.lit asks iOS for permission the first time, and only "while using the app." Your current location is never stored and never sent to us.
- Places you choose to save (the place's name, its category, its map coordinates and, when available, its address) are stored only on your phone, with the purchase you added them to. They are never sent to us.
- You stay in control. You can export your places with your other data, or delete them, anytime in Me ("Export my data" and "Delete all data"). Deleting a purchase also deletes its place. Turn off "Track places" in Me to stop adding places, or turn off location for Vesta.lit in your iPhone's Settings.
- Place search is provided by Apple Maps (MapKit). When you search or look for nearby places, Apple receives the search and your approximate location to return results, under Apple's privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
Subscriptions and purchases
If you subscribe to Vesta Pro:
- Apple processes your payment through your Apple ID. We never see your payment details. Apple's privacy policy applies: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
- RevenueCat, Inc. helps us confirm whether your subscription is active. To do this, RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID generated on your device, your purchase and subscription history, and basic technical information such as device model, operating system version, app version, country/region and IP address. This information is not linked to your name, email or your financial entries in the app. RevenueCat's privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
We use this to provide and restore your subscription, to understand subscription totals, and to see which Apple Ads campaigns lead to subscriptions. We don't use it for advertising.
Exporting and deleting your data
- Export: Me → Export my data creates a file of everything the app stores, which you can save or share.
- Delete: Me → Delete all data erases everything the app has stored on your device. Deleting the app also removes it.
- Usage events already sent are anonymous, so they can't be traced back to you. "Delete all data" also clears the usage list kept on your phone.
- Subscription records are kept by Apple and RevenueCat under their own policies. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your iPhone's Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
Children
Vesta.lit is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Security
Your data stays in the app's private storage on your device, protected by iOS. Keeping your device secure (with a passcode, Face ID or Touch ID) helps keep your information private.
Education, not advice
Vesta.lit is for education and entertainment only and is not investment, tax or legal advice.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
